What is Pay-Per-Click Advertising?
Pay per click advertising(PPC) is a good way to bring instant traffic to your site. Pay per click advertising means that you submit a bid amount to advertise your site on numerous web sites. The way it works is simple, each bid is ranked and displayed in order of the bid amount. By placing a bid, the advertiser agrees to pay the bid amount each time their advertising link is clicked. There are certain pay per click companies who have partnered with the largest search engines out there. Overture is the largest pay per click advertising company and when you advertise with Overture, your listing will show up on many major search engines, including Yahoo.
To setup your pay per click advertising, you will select a list of keywords and key phrases that you want to advertise. Once you select your keyword list, you will usually input a URL link, and a small description to associate your ad. The next time you visit Yahoo type in a search phrase and view the results. Generally on Yahoo, the first top section is titled "Sponsor Results", which are listings that are returned from Overture pay per click advertising subscribers.
The single best thing about PPC advertising:
You only pay when your link advertisement is clicked !!!
Google Adwords
Most pay per click companies have minimum bid requirements in place. Googles adwords has a minimum of $.20 per click, Overture's minimum is $.10 per click, Findwhat is $.01 per click, Sprinks varies depending on listing. So even if you want to advertise for "Purple Speakers", a phrase that no person may ever input, you must still pay a minimum per click fee.
Overture Advertising
Most of the pay per click advertising companies have human editors who will review your site before allowing you to advertise. This helps to ensure the integrity of the advertising links supplied to the search engines. Overture has the most stringent requirements, and don't be surprised if you get denied an advertising listing for a web site. Most of the pay per click advertising companies will visit your site to verify that the key phrase you want to advertise for, is reflective of your web site. If it is not reflective of your site, or the products you offer, your listing will be declined. Most PPC companies will only allow you to appeal a rejection one time. So make sure that your site is fairly complete and contains the proper information before submitting key phrases for approval.
